Denise Glidden’s first foray into yoga was over 15 years ago, at home, as a chance to get some exercise while raising 2 young children. She practiced with Rodney Yee, Suzanne Deason & Brian Kest and their DVD routines. When Karen Reisdorf first opened Blue Pearl Yoga it was an opportunity to do yoga outside the home, with an instructor who could guide and give feedback. Karen gave her a deeper appreciation for all that yoga has to offer, aside from its exercise challenges.
Denise is a Health & Family Consumer Science educator, as well as, NYS certified dietitian/nutritionist and has made fitness an important part of her health routine. Fitness started for her during college, in the 80’s, with aerobics (spandex and all) in the student center at SUNY Plattsburgh and then after graduation, Body Electric, with Margaret Richards, on PBS. Her fitness adventures have included: Weight lifting, Walking/running, Mountain biking with her husband and cross country skiing, but Yoga is her “Jam”. Yoga is a never-ending challenge. Just when you thought you’ve mastered a pose, you find out there is a more difficult version! And yoga gives you an opportunity to strengthen & stretch, so you always feel great afterwards.
Denise became a 200 hour certified Yoga instructor at Blue Pearl with Rebecca Cohen Yoga, this summer, and is registered with the Yoga Alliance. She looks forward to teaching and challenging her students to go further than they ever thought they could before!
